Three ways a pattern gets onto cloth
Handblock
A design is carved into a wooden block. The block is inked and pressed onto the cloth by hand, one impression at a time, and repeated across the length of the saree. Because a hand places it, no two impressions land identically. The dye pools at some edges and thins at others. The repeat drifts.
Hand-pulled screenprint
Colour is pulled by hand through a fine screen, panel by panel down the length of the cloth. The line is cleaner than a block, but a person is still drawing the colour across by hand, and the panels never align perfectly.
Digital print
A machine sprays the design onto the fabric. Every repeat is identical because nobody touched it. We do not sell digital prints. When you buy from us, the product page tells you exactly which of the two hand techniques was used.
A saree with a perfect, unbroken pattern isn’t precision. It’s a factory.
